Delivering client galleries, done properly.
Practical, no-fluff guides for professional photographers — how to deliver galleries your clients actually receive, keep them safe for years, and stay GDPR-clean while you're at it.
- Client gallery vs WeTransfer, Dropbox and Google Drive A client gallery beats WeTransfer, Dropbox and Google Drive for delivering photos because it's branded, doesn't expire, and lets clients view, favourite and download without hitting quota walls. Here's the honest comparison.
- How long should you keep a client gallery online? Keep a delivered client gallery online indefinitely, not on a 30, 90 or 365-day timer. Clients come back for reprints and anniversaries years later — here's why permanence matters and how to guarantee it.
- How to deliver wedding photos to clients The reliable way to deliver wedding photos to clients — a private online gallery they open in one tap, download in full resolution, and keep for years. No accounts, no expiry surprises.
- How to send high-resolution photos to a client The reliable way to send high-resolution photos to a client is a private gallery link, not an email attachment or a file-transfer service that expires. Here's how to do it so the full-quality files actually arrive.
- Exporting photos for web vs print Export web copies in sRGB with the profile embedded; export print files in the colour space and resolution your lab specifies. The biggest web mistake is shipping wide-gamut files that browsers render dull. Here are the settings that matter.
- Colour-managed photo delivery, explained Colour-managed delivery means a platform converts derivatives to sRGB and handles ICC profiles correctly, so colour doesn't shift between your export and what the client sees. Here's what that means, why it matters, and how to test a platform for it.
- Why do my photos look different online? Photos usually look different online because of a colour-space mismatch — a wide-gamut export (Adobe RGB) shown without conversion looks dull in browsers that assume sRGB. Convert to sRGB and embed the profile and the shift mostly disappears.
- Do photographers need a DPA (data processing agreement)? If you use any tool that stores or processes client photos on your behalf — a gallery platform, cloud backup, or editor — you generally need a data processing agreement (DPA) with it. Here's when a DPA applies and what it covers.
- EU data residency for photo storage, explained EU data residency means your client photos are physically stored and processed on infrastructure inside the EU, under EU law. For photographers with EU clients, agencies, schools or public-sector work, it's often a hard requirement. Here's why.
- GDPR for photographers — handling client photos legally Under GDPR, client photos are personal data, which means photographers need a lawful basis, sensible retention, a way to honour data-subject rights, and processor agreements with the tools they use. Here's the plain-language version.
- Where should photographers store client photos? Store client photos in at least two places — a working backup you control and a delivery platform built for photos — and pay attention to which jurisdiction the data sits in. Here's a practical storage setup.
- How to let clients choose their photos Let clients choose their photos by sending a proofing gallery where they favourite or select in one tap and the shortlist comes back to you automatically — no accounts, no filename emails, no spreadsheets.
- A proofing workflow for wedding photographers A clean wedding proofing workflow — deliver a sectioned gallery, ask the couple to favourite for the album, collect the shortlist, confirm the count, then design and finalise. No filename emails, no lost selections.
- What is photo proofing? Photo proofing is the step where a client reviews a gallery and marks which photos they want — favourites for an album, picks for editing or prints — before you finalise. It replaces emailed lists of filenames with a few taps.
- Why photo galleries get deleted — and how to stop it happening Photo galleries get deleted because most delivery platforms treat delivered work as reclaimable storage. Here's why it happens, and how to guarantee a delivered gallery is never auto-removed.
- Why photo uploads fail — and how resumable uploads fix it Photo uploads fail because most tools restart the whole batch when a connection drops. Resumable uploads fix that — an interrupted transfer picks up where it left off instead of starting over. Here's how.
